The Pennine Hotel
Where quality counts...
The Pennine Hotel has recently undergone a total refurbishment after a flooding. The bar has had a revamp and the rooms upstairs have been modernised and upgraded. (March 2009)
Testimonials:
John: I noticed the previous review and went to see the hotel and noticed that it had new owners from March 2009, it looked very nice from the outside and when we entered it had all been revamped. The rooms upstairs were a bit bare but had all the essentials we required and were clean and tidy. I am sure that with a bit of love and care, which it seems the new owner has, they will soon be as good as you would find anywhere in the locality.
All in all we were very pleased with our stay and would most certainly recommend it to friends and family and indeed to anyone who is looking for a quiet holiday break.
Meals were available and a separate eatery is available at the rear of the pub itself.
Menu:
It does not take diners long to realise that it can sometimes be very expensive in these trying financial times, however at The Pennine Hotel we offer fine food for a great price. Why not contact us and book your table at one of Kirkby Stephen's finest pub house eateries. This is upscale family dining at its best!
We can provide full meals and bar snacks and if required can provide various sandwiches as required. Tea and coffee are served throughout the day and scones etc are also available.
Kirkby Stephen is a small town in the Upper Eden valley which was formerly in the old county of Westmorland, now Cumbria. This is an area of Cumbria much less well known than the Lake District, but equally appealing. A traditional market town of historic buildings, cobbled yards, quaint corners and interesting shops, it is surrounded by a landscape of pastoral rural scenery and wild uplands. Being remote from large towns and population centres, Kirkby Stephen has developed a strong and self-sufficient identity and a vibrant sense of community.
The Town Council aims to respond to the needs and aspirations of the people it represents and to undertake work which benefits the town and its residents. It is also active in addressing local issues, dealing with any problems which arise and generally 'getting things done!'

Fine Dining :
Our 32 seater restaurant is situated at the rear of the main bar and is ideal for family or groups, since it allows for a separate dining experience, totally detached from the bar. We also offer bar meals which again can be eaten in the rear dining area or if you prefer, can be ordered and eaten in the bar area itself.
