The Pennine Hotel

Where quality counts...

The Pennine Hotel has recently undergone a total refurbishment after a flooding. The bar has had a revamp and the rooms upstairs have been modernised and upgraded. (March 2009)

Testimonials:

John: I noticed the previous review and went to see the hotel and noticed that it had new owners from March 2009, it looked very nice from the outside and when we entered it had all been revamped. The rooms upstairs were a bit bare but had all the essentials we required and were clean and tidy. I am sure that with a bit of love and care, which it seems the new owner has, they will soon be as good as you would find anywhere in the locality.

All in all we were very pleased with our stay and would most certainly recommend it to friends and family and indeed to anyone who is looking for a quiet holiday break.

Meals were available and a separate eatery is available at the rear of the pub itself.

Testimonials:

Mrs Jones & Family:

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by Stewart who was a very welcome host, he saw us to our rooms and invited us to have coffee in the rear restaurant area, to which we duly obliged. The hotel has been refurbished and looks very clean and organised. Our rooms seemed not to have been well used and although they were of the minimum standard one may expect, they were clean and everything we required was at hand. We ate our lunch in a local cafe and arrived back in our hotel by teatime and had a fine dinner in the evening. all in all we had a nice stay at the pennine, and many thanks to Stewart.

David:

I think that it was lovely and homely, the service was excellent and the food was to a high standard. I hope that other people get the chance to experience the diversity of the location.

Fred & Martha Davis:

We had a great time at The Pennine and enjoyed our stay in the beautiful village of Kirkby Stephen.

Pennine Hotel Opens its Doors:

After a period of almost a year, The Pennine Hotel in the market square of Kirkby Stephen re-opens under the management of entrepreuner Adrian Robson. Mr Robson who owns and operates two waste transfer stations in the Carlisle area, decided to open the hotel after seeing it in a state of dis-repair. He stated his family was brought up in the area and it broke his heart to see the 300 year old pub closed to the public.

Kirkby Stephen :

Kirkby Stephen is a market town and at 600 feet is the highest town on the banks of the River Eden. It is the half way point of Wainwright's Coast to Coast long distance walk and the Pennine Way passes nearby.

The town dates back to the time of the Danes in 850AD and was granted a market charter by King Edward III in 1361
